  • What do you do when you are not racing (other interests)?
Working on my cars, reading workshop manuals
  • Why VW? Do you have several VWs at home?
Like a duck, I became attached to the first car that I saw after birth, which was a VW Beetle. I also have a 56 Oldspeed Beetle, a 61 project car, a 62 Cal Looker, a 73 Ghia.

Team

  • Do you have a team that supports you? What does the team look like?

Car

  • 1-NED is a classical gasser tribute car. The original car ran in the US for a few months in 1971. It is shown in Keith Seume's bible on p. 64. The tribute car was built in the early 2000s in the UK by Rob Kilham and had its first run at EBI 4 in 2011.
  • What kind of engine do you have? Suction or overcharging?
Street-able "learning engine" NA oxyboxer with 2.7l displacement
  • What kind of gearbox do you have?
Close ratio KCR, re-built by Pete Englezos
  • Please tell us a little about the car's development
After I bought the car in 2024 I did a complete mechanical and electrical overhaul and put in a "learning engine" with power similar to a race engine but regular fan cooling, so I can maximize runs, if possible. During the first track season in 2025 I broke some things (clutch), flushed out bugs (weak oil filter, starter, location of launch control switch) and strengthened some components (stiffer rear torsion bars, adjustable shocks front and back).

CSP has been a source of advice and replacement parts
